Kalam honoured with literary award
IANS - 3/28/2007            

New Delhi, March 28 (IANS) President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has been conferred upon with the Award of Crane Summit Supreme Honour Crown Medallion in recognition of his contribution to literature and poetry.

The award was presented at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here Wednesday by Dr. Yu Hsi, patron of the US World Academy of Arts and Culture and World Congress of Poets and founder-chairman of the Crane Summit 21st Century International Forum.

Kalam has also been presented with a Chinese Royal Calligraphy Scroll and a poetry and music book on "An Inter-centurial Fire Phoenix" and a newly published bilingual book of poetry "Wings of Fire, Profile and Poems of Dr. Abdul Kalam, President of India" an official release said.

The president's books have been edited and translated into Chinese by a noted Taiwanese poet and journalist Maurus Young, secretary general of World Academy of Arts.
